Funky Monkey

I just thought I would update my blog because it's been a while. I been feeling funky the past several weeks. I'm not sure if it's due to holiday stress, memories of loved ones who have passed away, or just a general funk. Am I the only one who is overwhelmed by this time of year? I am really trying to get out of the BAH HUMBUG mode because there just isn't any time for that...

Our trip to Arkansas for Thanksgiving was great. Fast, but great. It was great to see our parents and siblings. We were also able to see my family from Mississippi. We celebrated Greg's mom's birthday with lots of candles and robust singing! We didn't do any shopping, just spent every second we could with family. Greg did get to go to the Razorback game (thank you Burtons!) and actually witnessed a great game! On the drive back to Florida Beckham got a stomach bug. Lots of fun! Thankfully, none of the rest of us got it! We'll be back in Arkansas in a few weeks. The trip is long, but the payoff is SUPER!

We visited Olivia's grave and brought her some sand from the beach. We also brought 6 seashells, one for each of us (if you are doing the math, that includes the new baby "brudder"). The kids enjoyed it and it was peaceful for me. Not sad, just OK. I think I felt at peace knowing that we were all there "together". I even got to tell her about her new baby brother.

We still don't have a boy's name picked out. We also don't have any nursery ideas. I am hoping that after the holidays I will have more time to think about that.

That's all for now... I've got to go find some Christmas spirit!

Just an after thought...holidays are really hard for many people. When you've lost someone special, one of the worst things that can happen is that no one talks about them anymore. It makes you feel like they aren't remembered. Don't worry that you will say the wrong thing, we will just be glad that you have remembered our special person.

I love the pictures and the wreath! I can't wait to see you all again. We put up our Christmas tree because it felt cold enough but it has been so busy that I find it hard at times to get in the spirit of holidays. I re-arranged my finals so I can drive to Oklahoma tomorrow afternoon to be with Mom through her surgery. Zeus and me are going on a road trip!!!
Can't wait to see you!
Love you sister!

Hearing Adam Sandler sing should be enough to into the holiday spirit!! You always pick the best music :)

Can't wait for your return trip "home". Been thinking alot about you in Chuck's sermons on Heaven...I can not wait to meet sweet Olivia!

So much love,
Amy

So glad you good some good quality AR time and a peacefully visit with Olivia. You look great, too!

Thanks for the last comment. It's so true- hearing about the lost- the little stories and quirks keeps them alive in our hearts. I wish everyone would realize that it's actually more akward to avoid the subject!

It's easy to get the funk around the holidays. My sister's birthday is this month too, so that doesn't help me either!

I've emailed you several times, but I'm not sure if you're getting them...your last email was a reply to a really old one so I just wanted to let you know, just in case, that I have been updating you! Loved the pics!

Loved the pics. Right there with as a "funky monkey". I'm ready for Christmas to be done. Just not in the mood. Trying though to make it special for Griff. Love you!
