I had to surrender my Arkansas license today. After having driven as an Arkansas resident for the past 17 years it was really strange to see my new Florida license. I've been dragging my feet getting this done. I've also been resisting learning my new phone number. Last night I finally gave in. I've had to stop living in denial and admit that my phone number now begins with a 904 area code. Maybe I should have 501 tattooed on my other wrist...Maybe not!
Bailey and I had some girl time this afternoon. I had to pamper myself after the license ordeal. I got my eyebrows waxed and Bay got a manicure. I regained about 1/2 an inch above my eyes for my eyeshadow. I had some amazingly scruffy eyebrows! Here's a picture of Bailey's lovely rainbow nails (I'll spare you from having to view a picture of my eyebrows):
Just to be fair I am posting a picture of Tookie. He wasn't watching where he was walking this weekend and ran into a display table at a store. That'll leave a mark!
(A quick note to my kindred spirit: you know how sometimes just hearing the voice of someone you miss so much is more than you can bear? That's where I'm at right now. Miss you more than you will ever know. Hoping to talk to you soon. By the way, Bailey and I think that your version of Never Let Go is 100% better!)

I sympathize with you! When we left Texas for Arkansas, it was hard...both times! We can still get our old numbers back within 7 years of leaving. We've discussed what we'd do when that time draws nigh...
Glad you got to have some fun afterward!
Love Bailey's nails and your new license picture!!! When I got mine renewed they zoomed in too much on my face giving me a total 'moon face.' We miss you!

Shannon, you don't know me but I wanted to let you know that today's broadcast on Focus on the Family is "How Moving Impacts Women". Its a two part broadcast. They'll be discussing how moving is particularly disruptive to the lives of women and offering advice on dealing with the emotional and relational challenges of settling in a new community. My closest friend moved 2100 miles away in March and I really miss her. Her kids and my kids were the best of friends, so that's been really hard too. You're an awesome mother and I'm inspired. My girls will be delighted because I'm going to go polish a rainbow on their nails! Take care.
I'm embarrassed to say that I've been out of the great state of Arkansas (aka HOME) for over a year and still haven't changed my license. The main reason: in NC they make you take a written test! Yikes!
Moving is tough. Hang in there. I think it gets a little better in the fall and then s..l..o..w..l..y continues to get better and better.
Hate the liscense, hate Florida, really really want you back.
Are you catching the theme here? Actually it is a great DL picture.
Tell BoBo love the nails. Claire really misses her in bible class!

ps. your license picture looks great, how in the heck did you manage that?
Aw, Shannon - I can really relate to you with this...moving to FL, getting a new license, finding new doctors, new hair salons, new schools, "Florida friends", churches, etc. It is not easy at all, but for me at least, with time, I grew to absolutely love it here! We really do need to get together and have coffee or something...I would say we could go get the area code 501 tatooed on our arms or something but I think our husbands would definitely not approve. :) How's the church hunting going btw?
Well, I got the flea shampoo and flea powder for the carpets and furniture. Needless to say, I have been scratching non-stop since yesterday since even an idea of fleas gives me the hives. Bathing a dog in the kitchen sink is a challenge. Keeping lathered up dog in the kitchen sink for 5 minutes while he is doing his best to get out of it is even bigger challenge. Now we both smell like we just got shampooed. Neither one is a happy camper.
